Bulldogs are of medium size, perfectly muscled, thick set, compact and extremely powerful.
They are short in stature with a low swung body and support a massive head with a squashed face and short inclined muzzle. They have very broad shoulders with sturdy limbs. The bulldog has a short, straight smooth coat in colours of fawn, brindle, red and their varieties, white and pied.
